Liposuction

Cosmetic surgery liposuction is the most commonly performed surgery in America. This type of liposuction plastic surgery can be used without complications for the enhancement of most parts of the body.

Lipoplasty - a technique of liposuction that sculpts the body. Lipoplasty is a cosmetic surgery liposuction that is ideal for legs, abdomen, buttocks, arms or any area of the body that requires excess fat removed and that doesn't respond to dieting and exercise. At times after a lipoplasty procedure a "tuck" needs to be done to remove excess skin. Lipoplasty is performed as outpatient surgery by the patient's plastic surgeon of choice in the doctor's office or a hospital. A special saline solution is applied to the area of skin, a probe introduced to the area of treatment and fat broken up by the use of ultrasound waves, with the fat being suctioned out of the area using a massage suction technique. There are little to no side effects from this procedure.

Tumescent liposuction procedures consist of an injected combination of saline, lidocane and adrenaline under the skin. The adrenaline is used to alter blood vessels to avoid excessive bleeding. Tumescent liposuction patients usually remain awake for this particular liposuction process. This way the attending doctor can converse with the patient and get a general idea of what he or she is thinking and how they are reacting to the results of the surgery. This liposuction process is less traumatic than other processes because there is less bleeding, no bruising and offers a quicker recovery.

Ultrasonic sound waves are used in liposuction combined with the tools traditionally used with tumescent liposuction. Liposuction patients are injected with the same medications, but the one difference is the tube inserted into the patient for the draining of extra fat material is fitted with an ultrasound device that transmits high frequency waves that burst the fat cells and then suction the remains out. This is a good procedure as the burst fat cells are unable to hold future fat and therefore the likelihood of future weight gain is reduced. There are some opponents to ultrasonic liposuction because of side effects of possible burns or skin problems, but it has been observed that side effects are minimal and bleeding is significantly less. However, ultrasonic liposuction can cost up to $2,000 more for the procedure than other methods of liposuction.

Neck liposuction helps patients wanting to tighten skin and remove excess fat from the neck. Neck liposuction plastic surgery is performed in much the same way as facial lifts. Incisions are made in similar fashion to facelift procedure and the excess fat is sucked out through the use of an instrument called a cannula. After the liposuction the skin is lifted and pulled back and excess skin removed. Liposuction procedures performed on the neck are often done in conjunction with other procedures creating a more dramatic and appealing transformation. By itself neck liposuction takes approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. When done with other procedures, additional time is added for each procedure. Side effects from this type of liposuction are minimal and normal activity may be resumed in a matter of days to less than a month's time.

Cosmetic facial liposuction removes excess fat material in the face area and also tightens skin that is loose or sagging, or remaining after the fat removal process. The fat suction tube is inserted in a hidden place in the face or neck region and a small amount of fat is removed. This small amount is all that is necessary and drastic results are apparent after surgery. Fat loss from facial surgery is permanent. Fat cells don't rejuvenate and the fat taken from the face is permanent. Recovery from facial liposuction takes longer than other liposuction procedures and diet is limited as well to prevent complications after surgery. The surgery itself takes approximately 1 hour.

Stomach liposuction is the most widely used form of liposuction and enhances the muscles while reducing fat in the abdomen. Stomach liposuction should not be confused with the procedure called "tummy tuck". In fact, stomach liposuction is quickly replacing the "tuck" as a way to reduce abdominal fat. The stomach liposuction procedure is performed in the same way as Tumescent liposuction and the same medications and tools are used. Recovery from stomach liposuction can take little time but the ability to see the difference in physique can take months as swelling occurs after the surgery. Chin liposuction surgery removes fat under the chin by way of suction techniques. Chin liposuction strengthens double chins and chins perceived as weak. Chin liposuction creates a strong profile and chin implants are often combined to increase the strength of the chin work. Chin liposuction patients are quick to recover from surgery with little to no side effects.

Breast liposuction is used to reduce fat in the area of the breast for both men and women. Breast liposuction is a less painful procedure than a breast reduction surgery, as it is a significantly less invasive process without cutting into the breast tissue. It is also more pleasing in that there is no scarring from the procedure. Incisions are made in the underarm region and a surgical tube inserted and fatty material suctioned out. Skin is tightened by the process, and in women it is a common occurrence for the nipple to rise up as the breast skin tightens. The same amount of breast material can be removed from a breast that can be removed in a reduction surgery.
