Gynomastia

Enlarged male breasts are called Gynomastia. Growth of tissue on male breasts due to the hormone estrogen causes this enlargement. Another cause of Gynomastia is the accumulation of fatty material on male breasts. When either of these instances occurs the result is enlarged male breasts and a look that is similar to that of female breasts.

Gynomastia can be easily corrected with light surgery. A small incision is made around the areola of the breast and the fat material is suctioned out, reducing the size of the beast considerably. Due to the enlargement of the breasts, male areola and nipples can become quite large. This also can be remedied at the same time as the reduction surgery.

There are different forms of surgery the patient can choose from. Liposuction is one surgery, and traditional reduction surgery is another way Gynomastia can be treated.
